In my post last week, I wrote "Kansas is often characterized as a state offering very little entertainment..." Well, the Wazipic™ of the week is proof there is plenty of entertainment to enjoy in the great state of Kansas...just look at the hat on that guy!
This week we celebrate the 2015 Wichita River Festival, also known as Riverfest. As I mentioned in my community spotlight post featuring juggling rock star, and Late Show with David Letterman performer, Warren Hammond, "Riverfest is an annual festival comprised of events & activities including but not limited to live concerts, sport tournaments, fireworks, horse rides, butterfly festival, bubble soccer, a world record attempt at the longest line of bicycles and of course a wide variety of decadent carnival fare." The festival provides individuals and families with a full week of fun-filled entertainment.
Following is a list of events, activities and other entertainment provided on Saturday, May 30, 2015. I cannot believe this is just one day of activities! See event photos below.

Riverfest is a must-see festival for Wichita residents and surrounding communities. In fact, Riverfest is a must-see festival for people all over the nation. If you are ever in the area during Riverfest, do everything in your power to spend a couple hours enjoying a fantastic festival produced by Wichita Festivals, Inc.
About the Shot
Now what is the story behind the guy in the peculiar looking hat? The individual in the photo is Mike Greene, also known as Admiral Windwagon Smith XLII.
According to the Wichita River Festival website
"...Greene will serve as the official [42nd] ambassador of Riverfest 2015 by visiting children in local hospitals, speaking on behalf of Riverfest at Wichita civic organizations and helping host dozens of events throughout the nine days of Riverfest, May 29-June 6, 2015."
That is simply amazing! As I was taking the photo of Greene, I witnessed him interacting with a nice family. The smile you see in the photograph never left his face, which leads me to believe he is a very kind man. The hand gently touching his arm in the photograph says it all.
I hope you enjoy the photograph and the story behind it. Have fabulous day!
All my best,
"To be the face and ambassador for this Festival is a dream come true. I am honored to serve in this capacity as it will allow me to give back to this community which has blessed me with so much"
― Mike Greene
