Thoughts Behind the Photograph

The moment I complete a new project, I say to myself, “This is the best one yet!” I suppose this is a positive sign I am getting better with each design, at least I hope it is. 🙂 The angel wings project is one of my favorites for a couple reasons. First, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, but that goes without saying. Second, I believe everyone should have angel wings right now!!! How cool would it be to wake up in the morning, throw on some clothes, grab a bite to eat and fly to work??? Step out the door and swooooosh, you are soaring like a bird. Imagine the possibilities…I get goosebumps just thinking about it!

My daughter and I spent a cold afternoon at a park not far from my home. Yes, there are several parks not far from my home. I offer that little nugget of info to my frequent visitors, as many of my previous posts include, “…at a park not far from my home.” Just to be clear, the location does change. 🙂 The brisk wind and chilly climate were not ideal shooting conditions. However, the overcast offered a beautifully diffused light— something most photographers crave.

The composition of the shot consists of the subject standing between two massive trees surrounded by dense foliage. The neighboring trees created a sizable canopy directly above the subject. This canopy allowed very little sunlight to break through. Looking at the original photo below, you can see the sun breaking through the dense canopy and landing just behind the subject—absolutely stunning to see in person. The illuminated background set the stage for my angel wing treatment and is by far my favorite design.

I hope you enjoy the photo. Cheers!
